Salary
Salary Range: $63,000-$68,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications
Hours per Week

Essential Functions
Provides advanced professional skills and strategic management for all phases and activities of research programs/projects, including fiscal administration, development of new partnerships, expansion of existing ones, and identification of collaborative opportunities. Collaborates with, and supports Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and other relevant stakeholders to provide oversight and management for sponsored research programs and fiscal services for the College of Business Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGS&R). Serves as the fiscal/administrative liaison with college's BSC, UTSA's office of the Vice President of Economic Development and Knowledge Enterprise (VREDKE), and its different units, including, but not limited to, research service center (RSC) and the Grants and Contracts Financial Services (GCFS) office.
  • Plans, schedules, and executes detailed phases of and activities for strategic programs/projects in support of research initiatives or new partnership development. This includes communications with stakeholders, marketing of programs/activities, data collection, reporting, and management as well as forecasting and deadlines.
  • Assists with fostering academic, government and industry partnerships that align with ACOB researchers and/or research interests by coordinating engagement meetings or activities, and promoting value-added opportunities for collaboration. Establishes and maintains relationships with federal, state, private, and/or local sponsors of grant/contract opportunities to facilitate project development and/or administration.
  • Assists principal investigators (PIs) with managing budgets for their sponsored research projects. Communicates directly with PIs and/or budgetary authority approvers regarding their budgets and available balances on a regular basis.
  • Prepares monthly budget reconciliations and reports for sponsored research projects. Maintains accounting transactions and other grant records in accordance with the UTSA file retention policies, FMOG and ACOB processes and procedures. Analyzes data for accuracy and work with other UTSA units to initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Assists with the setup and budget management for research gifts in conjunction with PI, department admin, gift services, and development.
  • Works with corresponding PI to manage expensing of each project. Assist ACOB department admin and project coordinators with the processing of grant-funded purchase orders/payment of non-purchase order vouchers, transfer of funds requests, service agreements, no cost extension requests, participant agreements, eForms, and cost transfer requests.
  • Administers and coordinates the day-to-day research programs/projects including data reporting, data management, budget forecasting, and ensuring adherence to compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates with the UTSA Research Service Center (RSC) and the Grants & Contracts Financial Services (GCFS) office to ensure the timely and accurate setup of Project IDs for newly awarded contracts/grants and appropriate routing through CAYUSE. Coordinates with library to ensure the timely and accurate renewals of database acquisitions.
  • Coordinates with department administrative associates and UTSA's Contracts & Industry Agreements office to develop non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), cooperative research & development agreements (CRADAs) and sponsored research agreements (SRAs) in support of ACOB research efforts.
  • Supports ACOB's ADGSR, and Assistant Dean of Fiscal Administration apprised of the status of ongoing internal and external sponsored programs/projects.
  • Assists ADGSR in strategic research activities including, but not limited to, reviewing course buyout requests, coordination and administration of INTRA and Seed Grant proposal submissions, coordination, analysis and communication of Dean's Distinguished Research Awards (DDRA), and coordination of research-based expenditure administration, database usage, purchase and administration, among other research-related activities. Coordinates with library staff to ensure timely and accurate administration and renewal of databases/datasets.
  • Maintains records, gathers data and prepares reports as required, including reports and analysis to evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for insights into research performance improvements (e.g., utilize data to assess effectiveness of strategies and pursue corrective actions for identified weakness). Supports research efforts to utilize collected data to evaluate possible course of actions, program effectiveness, return on investment (ROI), and other performance indicators.
  • Organizes and provides oversight for events, such as symposia or conferences, with the highest quality of planning, execution and marketing. May involve engaging partners and collaborators at all professional levels and working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provides support in identifying, assembling, and submitting grant applications, particularly for collaborative teaming efforts.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Eight years of experience in at least two of the following:
    • Grant or research, fiscal administration
    • Program, project or business management
    • Working with agencies/organizations to fulfill project needs
    • Public relations or other customer/client facing role
  • Criminal Background Check (CBC).
  • Knowledge of UTSA and UT system rules and regulations around sponsored grants.
  • Effective organizational, budget/financial/fiscal, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and proactive problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven role with exceptional skills balancing competing deadlines and working efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience with Banner, Peoplesoft and other systems
Working Conditions
Working Conditions:
  • Requires use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
  • Ability to travel to and from meetings on and off campus, training sessions or other business-related events.
  • After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.

This position will be primarily located:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments. This work modality is subject to change based on the needs of the department
