Salary Range: Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Function: To provide specialized skill, management, leadership and administration of the UTSA Athletic Medicine program. Assist in the overall administrative duties of the department.
Scope: Responsible for assisting with the organization, management and administration of the Athletic Training Program as well as the supervision, treatment and rehabilitation of the UTSA men's and women's intercollegiate sports programs in accordance with University and NCAA policies and philosophies.
Duties
  • Provide athletic medicine services for team practices and competitions at home and on the road primarily for the sports of Track and Field and Cross Country.
  • Assist in the overall administrative duties of the department.
  • Provide prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for injuries to student-athletes.
  • Maintain medical records for all assigned student athletes.
  • Design and implement pre-habilitation and post injury rehabilitation for the student-athletes.
  • Ability to work with various modalities in the athletic training room.
  • Assist in the daily management of training room, including maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in organizing and administration of the athletic training facility.
  • Provide computer records of athletic injuries, illnesses and their treatments.
  • Assist with issues concerning insurance.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are in compliance with University, American Athletic Conference and NCAA rules.
  • May supervise other trainer(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Level I:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field of study
  • 2 years of experience in athletic training field
Level II:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field of study
  • 4 years of experience in athletic training field
  • At departments discretion a Master's Degree and 1 year in athletic training field may substitute.
Level I & II:
  • Current National Athletic Trainers Association Board Certification
  • Current State of Texas athletic training license or eligible to receive within 30 days of employment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by first day of employment
  • Driver's License history check
  • Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office and standard office equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Athletic Training or Sports Medicine
  • 2-4 years of experience in a collegiate setting.
  • Two years of experience within Division 1 Track and field or Cross Country in athletic training
  • Experience with Neurocognitive baseline/post-concussion testing
  • Experience with various forms of manual therapy and soft tissue techniques
  • Experience with injury tracking software
Working Conditions
  • Possibility of working in dangerous conditions such as blood borne pathogen related areas.
  • Possibility of working in inclement weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, rain, etc.).
  • Ability to engage in physically demanding, manual tasks.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required.
This position will be primarily located:
On Campus: Primary work location will be on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
