University of Texas at El Paso is Hiring an Educational Outreach Coordinator Near El Paso, TX

Purpose

Assists the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens’ Education Curator in serving and engaging with the community by planning and implementing outreach activities and educational programs. This is a part-time position.

Essential Functions

Assists with developing comprehensive educational programs for outreach activities; works with Education Curator to develop goals of outreach programs.

Attends outreach events, transports and sets up materials, and conducts educational presentations to audiences.

Attends informational events on UTEP campus to promote the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens. Shares information through visits with school representatives and tabling events in designated locations; coordinates with other university departments.

Participates in community activities that heighten the awareness of museum exhibits and programs.

Assists in developing program curriculum and assists in production of materials, ensuring that programs and outreach activities support the museum’s goals.

Develops methods for feedback from outreach locations and evaluates program success, adjusting as appropriate. Documents findings to track trends and changes in the community.

Helps identify appropriate programs for exhibits during the exhibition creation process.

Prepares reports as required by management, federal, state, and university programs.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Applicant should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience working in a team environment, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university within area of assigned responsibility

and

Experience: Three years of related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in STEM from a four-year college or university

Many of the outreach events will not be on the UTEP campus, therefore, the details of the work environment may vary. The employee is frequently required to use hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and move up to 50pounds.

The noise level for this work environment is usually moderate.
