Job Details:

General Notes

Funding for this position is expected to continue and eligible for a hybrid Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) (on-campus and remote work). FWA arrangements are subject to supervisor approval and may shift due to changes in needs.

Purpose

This position supports Dell Medical School's efforts in supporting community-based efforts addressing community needs. This position fosters strategic external relationships, builds internal capacity for community engaged work, and facilitates the development of collaborative initiatives to meet needs identified by community organizations that align with Dell Med strengths and priorities. This position will work closely with leaders in Communications, Community Relations, Development and others.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Capacity Building: Implement a system and process to connect Dell Med and UT expertise to support external stakeholders focusing on community needs. Develop creative approaches to engage learners in collaborative opportunities that support both community needs and learner growth. Facilitate Dell Med training and expertise in community engaged research and program development.

  • Strategy: Serve as a strategic thinking partner both internally and externally to identify and foster opportunities for collaborations with key organizations and community stakeholders to address community needs. Identify and help prioritize strategic priorities, represent Dell Med on key coalitions, working groups, boards, etc.

  • Coordination and Communication: Ensure seamless coordination of community affairs efforts across Dell Med Departments, UME, GME, UT Health Austin, UT Austin and key partners (e.g. Dean's Office, Communications, Department of Population Health, UT Division of Campus and Community Engagement, etc.)

  • Project Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of strategically identified priorities, including, organizing, and attending meetings and events, communicating with partners and stakeholders, and providing administrative operational and implementation support to ensure program goals are met.

  • Engagement: Maximize local engagement opportunities and support needs defined by community organizations, with a focus on organizations serving the health of communities most in need. Interface and liaise with faculty, staff and students across Dell Medical School Departments and UT Austin to promote collaboration with external stakeholders.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 5 years of project management or a Masters and 3 years of related experience. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and relationship building skills and the experience of working in broad work settings. Demonstrated ability in event planning and high-level communication with partners. Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to follow-through, and strong problem solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and willingness to learn other technologies as necessary. Ability to work independently and on a team. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual English/Spanish. Experience working with community partners in health related work; experience in an academic setting.

Salary Range

$61,032 depending on qualifications
