General Notes

This is a grant funded position with an end date of August 31,2024 renewable based on availability of funding, work performance and progress toward research goals. Funding is expected to continue.

Purpose

On-site work is the standard expectation for this position to enable non-scheduled subject enrollments in the acute hospital setting. A Flexible work schedule may be required beyond a standard day-shift hours for applicable treatment protocols. This position may require availability after the standard Monday through Friday 8a-5p work hours including occasional enrollments after 5pm and/or weekends to enroll subjects. Coordinator schedules may be altered accordingly to maintain a 40 hour work week (if applicable).

Responsibilities

* Clinical Trial Management Functions:

* Manages implementation of regulatory processes for site monitoring.

* Records clinical trial costs within UT financial and Ascension clinical conductor (CTMS) systems.

* Develops and maintains performance report and audit for studies within the Stroke Institute's Clinical Research program

* Reviews and contributes to results and performance of research support program, and changes workflow, and processes according to outcomes.

* Assists with identifying programmatic research needs including personnel, technology, office space, equipment, and other resource needs to make requests and write present justification to present to appropriate leadership or staff.

* Participates in hiring research staff for the Stroke Clinical Research Program, including coordinating with the department and DMS HR, amending job posting, choosing interview team, identifying applicants to be interviewed, interviewing applicants, choosing final candidate, requesting hire, and communication of hire.

* Contributes to content and management of research staff training.

* Identifies and offers ongoing educational material and trainings for research staff.

* Assists in the planning, organizing, and coordinating research activities within the Stroke Clinical Research Program, Neurology Department, Dell Medical School. This includes oversight of the development and operations of the research infrastructure to support the scholarly activities of faculty and staff within the program.

* Assists in the preparation of proposals to institutional review boards and to contracting agencies. Acts as liaison officer between such agencies and the research unit.

* Assists with the development and management of clinical trial and sponsored study budgets (including development and submission of coverage analyses and budget requests, guiding initial budget proposals with sponsors and statement of work, SOW with Ascension, evaluating costs to be budgeted, managing and accounting for study costs) among different entities including Seton/Ascension, UT, and Industry Sponsors.

* Determines the effort members of the research support team can contribute to new studies, specifically determining if the studies can support assignment of study staff to the conduct of the study in addition to the usual IRB, SAT, regulatory, and other startup requirements.

* Responsible for the direction and completion of research projects, and/or for providing direction and supervision of a research staff. Assists in selecting key research personnel.

* Coordinates and assists with the review the work of a junior level research staff. Devises new approaches to problems encountered.

* Submits project results to management. Reports results of research in submissions to contracting agencies, in-house publications, journal articles and books, as appropriate.

* Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience. Experience with human recruitment and research. Ability to use and design specialized research equipment as required by the project. Thorough knowledge of special equipment used in the field of research. Proficiency with MS Office Suite and excellent data management/analysis skills. Proficiency with clinical trials management, data collection, entry, query resolution. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications

RN, PA or related Graduate degree. Interest or experience in the field of healthcare, especially stroke and acute cerebrovascular disease and/or neuroscience. Familiarity with medical and surgical clinical trials and related regulatory requirements. Experience in acute clinical research, stroke or cerebrovascular disease a plus. Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or qualified to sit for either certification exam.

Salary Range

$65,000 depending on qualifications
