Welcome Desk Attendant (part-time) - 502303

SUMMARY:

Assists with the coordination of the Well-Being Center Welcome Desk and Control Center operations. Provides excellent customer service to members and visitors with accurate information about programs, services, and facility schedules in the Well-Being Center and adjoining Weinstein Center for Recreation. Assists with administrative support to the Health Promotion department, including planning and hosting events, scheduling space, arranging for food, setups and other related logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows opening procedures to unlock/open the Well-Being Center and closing procedures to properly lock/close the Well-Being Center and related areas.
  • Greets all visitors and members to create a safe and inclusive environment and directs individuals to programs and services.
  • Provides visitors and members with current information about programs, services and facility schedules by phone and in-person. Answers questions and distributes printed materials as needed.
  • Monitors the Control Center (turnstile access) and resolves any eligibility situations. Checks in all visitors.
  • Communicates with Weinstein Center for Recreation Member Services Desk to resolve access issues using Fusion software.
  • Assists with support for the massage, salt and Reiki therapy programs, including turning on/off the salt room and refilling supplies.
  • Assists with planning events by scheduling space, ordering food, coordinating speakers, overseeing registration and on-site programming logistics.
  • Assists with the programming and coordination of therapy dog campus outreach; this includes drop-offs/pick-ups, walks, and special events.
  • Serves as a first responder in the event of an emergency in the Well-Being Center. Follows all emergency procedures in compliance with the risk management plan.
  • Attends all scheduled trainings and meetings. Complies with all Health and Well-being Unit employee guidelines.
  • Advocates for awareness, understanding and the diversity and inclusion of all people in Health & Well-being facilities, programs and communication while providing a commitment to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Advocates for the educational and cultural benefits of providing diversity and inclusion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to perform basic computer functions including internet searching, email, word, excel; must be able to learn specialized software (Fusion) to perform duties.
  • Must be able to be trained in basic handler techniques to supervise the Facility Dog working at the Well-Being Center Welcome Desk.
  • Current certification in CPR/AED required within 30 days of employment.
  • Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule during breaks/holidays/summer.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at University of Richmond

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School graduate (or equivalent) required; some college study preferred.
  • Experience with customer service/retail preferred.
  • Experience working in a University environment preferred.

WORK HOURS:

  • Part-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 6:45 a.m.-11:45 a.m.; approximately 25 hours per week 
  • Flexible schedule over breaks/holidays/summer 
  • Partial leave accruals (no health insurance)

SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 1 (Hiring Range $15.00 to $16.47 per hour)
