Position Summary | The University of New Mexico, Department of EmergencyMedicine, is seeking a part time Medical Scribe. The positions require multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-stressclinical environment. The scribes will work in real-time alongside a providerin the Emergency Department and be responsible for creating and maintainingmedical documents including history of present illness, physical examination,and family, social, and past medical history in the electronic medical record.Scribe responsibilities also include importing lab work, radiology, and EKGinterpretations, and patient records; calling for language interpreters;initiating phone calls to skilled nursing facilities and families of patients;communicating with on-site pharmacists; retrieving food, water, or blankets forpatients, and filling out death certificates. The Department of EmergencyMedicine utilizes a Vertical Care Model where Emergency Department providerssee patients in a triage area for evaluation; place orders for lab work,imaging, EKG, or medications; and determine if a patient can be seen in alow-acuity treatment area or needs to be assigned to a bed for additional care.The Emergency Department Resuscitation Unit is a highly-specialized program ofcare for serious injury or illness. Minimum Qualifications | High school degree or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
