Position Summary

Theoffice of Internal Medicine is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individualwho can work effectively with others and independently in a multi-taskenvironment. The primary purpose of the Medical Education Program Specialist isto ensure continuity of key operations and accreditations for UNM GraduateMedical Education accredited residency and clinical fellowship programs when aprogram coordinator vacates the position or takes an extended leave from theprogram.
This person will serve as a liaison between theProgram Director, Associate Program Director, Residents/Fellows and InternalMedicine leadership to assist in the daily operational activities of an ACGMEaccredited residency or fellowship if a coordinator resigns or is out for anextended period of time in the day to day managing of residents/fellows. Dutiesmay vary depending on the department assigned to the Medical Education ProgramSpecialist. This position will also participate and assist programs withrecruitment to include updating and manage program information in ERAS(Electronic Residency Application Service, The Match, and J1 Visa applicants ifa program does not have a coordinator. GME Responsibilities will includeidentifying areas for systems improvements across programs, providerecommendations and feedback to GME office.
This position will also attend GME events, meetingsand trainings and as a member of the GME office, work on special projects inthe office as needed, when not assigned to a training program. This positionmay also assist in assessment of program operations, including makingrecommendations for operational/quality improvements. This position will oversee and supervisethe day-to-day work of 10 fellowship coordinators within Internal Medicine. This individual will develop a familiarity with the ACGME Specialty-Specific requirements of the programs; develop program policies to comply with accreditation requirements, if needed. Complete annual surveys and ensure information is up to date in various GME systems (Specialty Board, FREIDA, ACGME ADS, professional organizations, GMETrack). Assist with administration of annual ACGME Resident/Fellow and Faculty surveys and ensure resident/fellow reporting compliance in New Innovations. Assist the program director in maintaining the program’s required ACGME documentation, and other essential documents required for program accreditation. Maintain program information in ACGME Accreditation Data System
This position will also assist in managing theworkload of team members who are on leave or unavailable.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
