The Prevention Research Collaborative, based in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education (HBHE) at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced research project manager to support research development, translation and dissemination activities for the Healthy Minds Network (HMN). HMN is dedicated to improving the mental and emotional well-being of young people through, multidisciplinary scholarship. HMN addresses the connection between the mental health of adolescents and young adults and their health behaviors, physical health, and social, educational, and economic outcomes. Taking a public health approach, HMN focuses on three main objectives: (1) producing knowledge (research), (2) distributing knowledge (dissemination), and (3) using knowledge (practice). Through its rich array of research projects, the network serves as a resource for secondary and higher education administrators, researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and the public.
The Prevention Research Collaborative (PRC) brings together research teams from the CDC-funded Prevention Research Center, Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center, Healthy Minds Network, Housing and Health Equity Solutions, and several affiliated federally-funded research initiatives focusing on school and community-based approaches to promoting safe, healthy, and equitable communities.
The HMN Research Program Lead will be a lead staff member, working with the HMN Director, Co-Directors, and Study Coordinators, to help develop the research program for the Healthy Minds Study and affiliated research, including IRB processes, manuscript and grant proposal development, reporting, and translation and dissemination of study findings. You will also work with the PRC research teams to engage in related research initiatives.
This position is based in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education (HBHE) at the University of Michigan, School of Public Health. Turning theory and research into actionable practice, we develop interventions and innovations that promote health, prevent disease, empower people to manage chronic illness and disabilities, and facilitate collective action for social change. Together, our academic community transforms the theoretical into the actionable, the science into the social, applying our knowledge to eliminate health disparities and impact lives for the better.
This is a hybrid position with 1-2 days per week of campus work and required monthly in-person meetings.
