The Director of Sports Performance's primary function is to oversee the physical development of the student-athletes at the University of Maine, while providing the safest possible environment. In addition, this position is one of an administrator, assisting with facility management, budget management, staff development, and payroll. Typical hiring range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 contingent on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or related field.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written skills.
  • Current first aid and CPR certification.
  • Current and active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Assoc. (N.S.C.A.) (preferred); or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Assoc. (C.S.C.C.A).
  • Must be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) (preferred) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (S.C.C.C.).
  • Previous coaching experience.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics as they relate to this position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Working knowledge of the repair and maintenance of athletic strength and training equipment.
  • Successful supervisory experience.
  • Ability to travel, normally requiring a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in exercise science or related field
  • Working knowledge of budget and business practices.
