Elementary School Principal (Grades PK thru 3)Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities outlined below are representative and do not encompass or define all tasks that my be required by this position.Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and ensures that student discipline is maintained.Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their performance. Supervises the school guidance program and other programs to provide individual student education.Plans, organizes and directs implementation of all school activities.Initiates, designs and implements programs to meet the specific needs of the school.Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals.Participates in the selection of elementary school staff for your building, provides an orientation for new staff.Oversees school support services such as maintenance, cafeteria, and supervises school accounts.Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports and other paperwork as required or as appropriate.Establishes and maintains a program of communication with staff, parents and community as appropriate.Attends Administrator’s meetings and other meetings as required or as appropriate. Attends Board of Directors meetings as directed by the Superintendent.Provides the leadership for the school’s extra-curricular program.Prepares the school budget requests and monitors expenditures of school accounts.Reports to the Superintendent the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies and curriculum.Studies the needs of the community and its students and exerts leadership in the development of a program of education to meet the particular needs of the community served.Manages, assesses, and makes decisions regarding student dataConducts staff meetings on a regular basis.Chairs IEP meetings for special services and 504 students.Works closely with principals from other district elementary schools to ensurecohesive programming.Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and issues. Advises, as necessary, in negotiations and administers the comprehensive contract.Performs other such tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
