University of Kansas is Hiring a Student Hourly Office Assistant, History of Black Writing Near Lawrence, KS
Position Overview
The History of Black Writing (HBW), a research unit in the English Department at the University of Kansas, is seeking an Office Assistant to support staff workflow and operations. The Office Assistant will work as part of a team to provide strong, professional support to the HBW staff and office spaces under the supervision of the Office Coordinator. This is a 5-20 hour per week position on the Lawrence campus.
Job Description
Responsibilities of this position: 95% - Respond promptly in answering / sending emails and phone calls. Assist in keeping the office professional and tidy. Create, organize and maintain digital records and data entries. Identify documentation gaps and update as needed / instructed. Monitor office supply levels and order accordingly. Help plan staff trainings and events. Attend weekly meetings to stay current on technical, operational, and administrative changes and requirements. Perform office tasks that may include shipping/mailing, running errands, photocopying, scanning, printing and filing. 5%- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1. Federal Work Study eligible 2. College Undergraduate or above 3. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) 4. Strong attention to detail as indicated from application materials 5. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students (Exceptions granted for GTA/GRA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
1. GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher 2. Ability to work independently and in group settings 3. Good communication and decision-making skills
