Job Description

The University of Indianapolis/CELL seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Literacy Training Specialist. The Literacy Cadre Training Specialist will oversee the delivery of statewide training, professional development, and workshops, both, as part of the Literacy Cadre. This staff member should have extensive knowledge in K12 literacy, including expertise in science of reading pedagogy; the candidate should also have experience in leading and organizing professional development for adult learners on a large scale.

Responsibilities- Literacy Training Specialist
  • Lead the coordination of professional development and training events across the project
  • Secure local and national experts for content development and facilitation of cadre professional development
  • Provide vision and structures for training and professional development
  • Work collaboratively with the literacy project managers and director regarding content experts for trainings, professional development and workshops
  • Collaborate with the communications and marketing team on technical review of all materials
  • Ensure the high-quality, on-time delivery of agendas, content, and other materials related to training, professional development and workshops for review 
  • Guide, consult, and communicate with the Regional Training Specialist Support staff regarding various expectations of the project and cadre assurances
  • Manage training processes and workflow platforms to accommodate required grant responsibilities and services
  • Monitor and report on the training and professional development events including feedback and attendance
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in adult learning pedagogy; virtual learning experience preferred
Qualifications- Literacy Training Specialist
  • Bachelor's degree required
    • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of elementary teaching experience; experience as a literacy specialist, instructional coach, or school administrator
