The Department of Psychiatry and the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Associate. This is a full-time position for a period of 1-2 years, focusing on the development, implementation, and evaluation of brief interventions in non-traditional settings (e.g., legal settings that serve youth), including three NIMH-funded projects currently underway.
We are one of the largest Psychiatry departments in the Midwest, with a nationally-recognized Psychology Clinical Internship Training Program, General Psychiatry Residency Training Program and several fellowships, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Women’s Mental Health fellowships. Our Department is nationally ranked in the top 20 for NIH supported research with active portfolios in anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, late life depression, digital mental health, addictions, mental health services, and women’s mental health. IJR is housed within the department and is regarded as the home of American child psychiatry. IJR dates back to 1909 and was founded by Jane Addams to advance the care of youth in Chicago. Its historic mission continues to the present day and is expanding under the leadership of Dr. Niranjan Karnik.
Our clinical services focus on diverse and vulnerable patients, serving predominantly minoritized and economically underserved populations on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Our inpatient child psychiatry unit serves youth in the care of Illinois DCFS.

The position will be within the Community Academic Partnerships to Accelerate Community Implementation of Treatment for Youth (CAPACITY) Lab Directed by Dr. Brittany Rudd.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Psychology and have completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship, with all degree requirements completed by the position start date. The fellowship will begin July 1, 2024, but this date is negotiable based on when degree requirements are met.
