Title: Assistant Professor of Kinesiology & Exercise Sciences

Other Conditions: Appointment to begin approximately January 2025, pending position clearance and availability of funding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach courses such as Exercise Physiology and its lab, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Data and Stats in Kinesiology, Basic Human Nutrition, and Sports and Exercise Nutrition, as well as other health and exercise science-related classes; advise students; engage in scholarly activity; seek extramural funding for research; and provide departmental, school, university, and professional service.

 Minimum qualifications:

  1. Doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. Experience in teaching undergraduate students.
  3. Research experience in Kinesiology, Exercise Sciences or related field.

Desirable qualifications:

  1. Experience providing students with applied learning experiences.
  2. Professional-level certification(s), such as ACSM EP, CEP or NSCA-CSCS.
  3. Experience and willingness to teach a wide range of classes throughout the three tracks within KES: (1) Kinesiology & Exercise Science Track, (2) Allied Health Track, and (3) Health Promotion Track.
  4. Experience and/or strong commitment working in multi-cultural and diverse settings, and with Native Hawaiian and/or other Indigenous populations.
  5. Active research program in exercise sciences. 
  6. Experience in grant writing and grant management.

Pay range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
