Position Overview:
The major purpose of this job is to perform HVACR work to maintain and repair buildings, structures, fixtures, and equipment.

Incumbent will develop over the course of four (4) years a working knowledge of building and plumbing codes as required. Incumbent will develop and understand tools, methods and materials used in operating, maintaining and repairing high and low pressure steam and hot water boilers, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and related auxiliary equipment; building and construction codes; Uniform Plumbing codes, National Fuel Gas Code; OHSA requirements, safe work practices; safety hazards; materials; tools and equipment used to maintain HVAC systems; pipes; fittings; valves; components; safety hazards and safe working practices. Learn and understand and develop ability to perform plumbing and welding tasks associated with heating and air conditioning equipment; use a variety of hand and power tools; Incumbent will develop ability to read and interpret installation manuals, plumbing codes, blueprints and construction drawings in order to determine type, location and configuration of HVAC systems. Safely lift construction materials and equipment; work on ladders and scaffolding in confined building access area.
High ethical standards and good judgment required. Position impacts public safety and security. This position is part of the Facilities Services Essential Personnel and may be required to work evenings and weekends to maintain campus operations. This position may be required to report to work for their regularly scheduled shift without any phone/cell phone notification. The position may be placed in standby status when forecasted events warrant immediate availability.
