PURPOSE OF CLASS:

At UConn Health the Center on Aging Department seeks to hire a full-time temporary highly motivated, Special Payroll Research Assistant. This position is responsible for collaborating with our research team who's dedicated to evaluating public policy designed to improve the health and well-being of older adults and people with disabilities, living in the community or nursing home settings, and their family members. The primary task of this position involves interviewing research participants who receive services through Connecticut Department of Social Services programs. This position will have extensive direct research participant contact.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the close supervision of an employee of higher grade; works more independently with acquired experience.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Recruitment of participants for interviews, surveys, or other research activities.

Telephone, in-person, or video call interviews of research participants.

, Tracking of difficult to find research participants.

Data collection and entry.

Review data to ensure accuracy and work with team to analyze data.

Use of projects' web-based data tracking systems.

Assist in writing project reports and manuscripts.

Work effectively with research team members, state agency staff, community organizations, and research participants to facilitate all aspects of research effort.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:

Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work independently.

Willingness to travel statewide to complete in-person interviews.

Reliable car for travel to in-person interviews within Connecticut.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

General Experience:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, i.e., psychology, gerontology, social work, public health, sociology, or related discipline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in Spanish

Computer Skills- Internet, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Hourly Rate: $27.46 per hour.

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week. Some evening or weekend hours required. Must be flexible to change hours as project and interview schedules require.
