Departmental Overview
The California Social Welfare Education Center (CalSWEC) is a training and evaluation unit of the University of California at Berkeley's School of Social Welfare. As the nation's largest statewide consortium of social work educators and practitioners, CalSWEC facilitates and supports statewide partnerships for the education and training of social workers to ensure culturally responsive, effective, and high-quality health and social service delivery to the people of California. CalSWEC's work includes pre-service social work education, training, and student support projects, professional in-service training projects, and workforce development-related program evaluation and applied research projects in the arenas of child welfare, behavioral health, and services for aging and vulnerable adults.
The CalSWEC Title IV-E Program operates at 20 schools of social work and provides specialized professional education and monetary support to undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue or continue a career in the field of public child welfare.
The goals of the CalSWEC Title IV-E Program are:
To increase the number of public child welfare (PCW) workers in California with BASW and MSW degrees. To prioritize the enrollment of current state/county/Tribal social services staff. To prioritize the enrollment of students who reflect the diversity of California's child welfare population. To provide specific program support through the provision of monetary support to students. To provide specific program support through a specialized competency-based child welfare curriculum.

Responsibilities
Works with a variety of internal and external contacts, including university and public child welfare agency partners, to coordinate and implement statewide social work education and child welfare workforce development efforts. Provides technical guidance on program implementation. Coordinates and facilitates a variety of meetings and events with key internal and external stakeholders. Prepares and presents program documents, including program reports, directives, policy briefs, memos, program guides, contracts, requests for proposals, curriculum, etc. Regularly reviews and updates program policy and implementation processes and documents. Researches, monitors, and analyzes local, state, and federal public child welfare policy, social work education, child welfare and social work workforce development trends, organizational development, and other related topics, and implements program improvements and updates accordingly. Supports program evaluation and assessment efforts. Develops and implements program improvements based on evaluation findings. Conducts and analyzes needs assessments to inform program development and implementation. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and respond to requests in a timely manner. Exceptional group facilitation and meeting management skills. Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, design, and manage complex projects with in-person and remote teams. Demonstrated initiative and follow-through. Demonstrated experience respectfully, collaboratively, and effectively working with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational skills and detail orientation. Ability to assume leadership of assigned projects and tasks and function autonomously. Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses. Comfort with learning new skills, including new technologies. Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, comparable Google applications. Ability to travel statewide. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social work, sociology, psychology, public policy, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of public child welfare practice and workforce development issues and trends. Knowledge of social work education in university settings. Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social work, sociology, psychology, public policy, or related field.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), Contract Appointment, eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension. This position is exempt which is paid monthly and annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $88,100.00 - 93,100.00.
