Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Education Specialist works with Teachers and schools who participate in the Alabama Math, Science, Technology Initiative (AMSTI) project or Science-in-Motion project. Provides professional development and follow-up support services to teachers and schools.
Additional Department Summary: Requires some overnight travel.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in education, math, science, or a related degree in a math or science field and some experience in an education work environment. Must be certified to teach in Alabama. Teacher Certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to travel. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Basic knowledge of keyboarding, personal computers usage, and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs). Strong interpersonal skills in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Education, Math or Science focus and five (5) years of experience in K-12.
