Compensation:
- Salaried, exempt
- New hires can expect to be placed on our starting wage scale of $77,000 to $94,000 per year.
- Based on performance, there is room to grow on our full wage scale of $77,000 to $110,900 per year.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Job Summary
The Way Station will provide individuals and families experiencing homelessness with a range of health and social services to assist in improving their health outcomes and aiding their transition to sustainable housing. The Way Station Health & Hygiene Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the clinical and hygiene center for the homeless that provides showers, laundry facilities, restrooms, hygiene supplies, medical, behavioral health, and case management services. Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Managing the hygiene staff of the Way Station.
- Assuring excellence in hospitality and clients' experience of care.
- Serving as the key liaison for community partners and neighbors.
- Managing operations.
- Leading program development and implementation.

Requirements
- Advanced general skills, including written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge at a level typically acquired through completion of a general bachelor’s degree program.
- In addition to advanced general knowledge, requires knowledge and expertise in a non-technical general profession (e.g., community health work, social services), which may include some specific or technical training, but is generally acquired through experience.
- Possesses a full understanding of all aspects of the profession or trade that are used within UCNW.
- Minimum of 3 years’ of increasingly responsible work experience in program management, preferably in programs serving the homeless.
- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (this training can be offered upon hire.)
Technical Skills:
- Ability to respond to disruptive behaviors with trauma informed de-escalation techniques and manage occasional crisis situations.
- Ability to build trust and confidence with our clients through creative and resourceful strategies.
- Ability to address potential conduct issues and violation of policies by clients.
- Ability to effectively supervise staff, interns, and volunteers, and to work with confidential, sensitive information (physical, electronic, and verbal) and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, independent, and autonomous work environment. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, able to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and follow-up.
- Must have exceptional problem-solving skills, be able to resolve conflicts, and ability to work effectively with difficult people.
- Previous experience with record keeping and report preparation.
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with constant public contact, and frequent interruptions.
- Ability to understand and respond effectively and with sensitivity to special population groups, including those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, economic standing, & others.
- Manages in an empathy-forward, trauma-informed manner that acknowledges the barriers and inequities experienced by our unhoused clients.
- Must have experience in de-escalation and conflict management/resolution.
- Ability to use more advanced functions in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Communications Skills:
- Possesses ability to effectively communicate not only facts or the results of analysis, but the employees’ opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
- Able to resolve significant conflicts that may arise because of disagreements between employees, between employees and customers/clients, or with the public, other legal entities, or governmental authorities.
- Resolves conflicts which could not be effectively resolved by lower-level staff, whether they involve clients or employees.
- Prepares effectively written communication (e.g., correspondence, memos, letters, emails) conveying information.
