Democratic Senator seeks a Staff Assistant for their Hartford, CT office. The primary duties of this position include: to support and maintain front office operations including maintaining telephone and mail operations, greet and screen visitors, assist with appointments with the Senator and other staff members; maintain literature regarding the state, Washington, D.C. and the Senate; maintain the reception room and office guest book; sign for deliveries to appropriate staff; maintain office voicemail; office supplies, and office logistics; maintain a list of key State officials and their office liaisons with addresses and phone numbers; record callers and visitors opinions and enter them into the office database; other duties as assigned. This position will assist with the state internship program in coordination with colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a team player, compassionate, and service-oriented. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, computer proficiency (i.e. Word, Intranet Quorum, Outlook), and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the Senior Deputy Director of Constituent Services and Front Desk Staff Manager. This office is an equal opportunity employer. Ties to Connecticut are a plus.
