United South and Eastern Tribes is Hiring a Workforce Development Manager Near Nashville, TN

The USET Workforce Development Manager is responsible for assisting United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET), Tribal Health Program Support (THPS) personnel and USET member Tribal Nations in developing and managing public health programs and projects. The Workforce Development Manager must ensure that all timelines and budgets are being adhered to as they develop and implement public health projects geared towards improving the overall general health of Tribal populations. This position will hold some supervisory responsibility over other staff within the department.

Exempt/Non-Exempt and Salary Range:
The USET Workforce Development Manager is an exempt position requiring occasional travel and irregular work hours, with a salary range starting at $63,189.00 per year.

Reporting Relationship:
The USET Workforce Development Manager is supervised by the THPS Assistant Director.

Location:
Nashville Headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct project reviews and periodic update checks with various project staff members to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget restraints.

2. Develop and implement annual budgets and workplans.

3. Monitor budgets and workplans on a monthly basis to ensure fiscal and grant management.

4. Incumbent will oversee the development of partnerships and programs to meet the workforce development needs of Tribal Nations.

5. Supervise a team of Workforce Development Liaisons who will be regionally based.

6. Oversee and manage USET’s ECHO programs.

7. Participate in tribal community and tribal public information efforts of initiated projects, including community based participatory activities.

8. Support comprehensive workforce needs assessment throughout the Area.

9. Identify and coordinate work with staff from Tribal Nations, other Tribal organizations, the Indian Health Services, state health departments, federal agencies and outside agencies to coordinate and develop workforce development activities.

10. Assigns and reviews work; establishes standards and evaluates performance; obtains approval for and takes disciplinary actions; and participates in the selection and training of staff.

11. Serves as a mentor and provides coaching to competency staff.

12. Delegate responsibilities to other members of the competency staff.1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director THPS.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. A minimum of a Master’s degree in workforce development, human resources, health administration, or staff recruiting and retention or other related field from an accredited college.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in grants and budget development/management.

3. Background in Public Health strongly preferred.

4. Minimum of five years in a supervisory position.

5. Strong knowledge, skills and abilities related Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access software, desktop publishing software, and ability to learn new software applications quickly.

6. Experience in Indian Country strongly preferred.

7. Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of health communication programs.

8. Cultural sensitivity and ability to work within the customs and traditions of various tribal groups.

9. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

10. Ability to thrive in a diverse environment.

11. Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment

12. Translational research experience in a public health setting preferred.

13. Ability to travel up to 50% of time and work irregular hours.
