General Description: The Major Gifts Officer will play a pivotal role in cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors to secure significant financial support for United Christian Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, soliciting, and stewarding major donors, as well as managing a portfolio of high net-worth individuals and institutional donors.

Reports To: UCA Superintendent

Qualifications:

  • Born-again Christian.
  • Credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrates obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Possess strong Biblical knowledge, able to apply biblical principles to school instruction and administration.
  • Support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  • Understanding and commitment to UC Academy’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5 - 7 years fundraising experience, preferably in major gifts for an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate high-net-worth individuals strategically, following the best practices in major and capital donor cultivation
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Sufficient health and physical ability to be able to complete assigned duties.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication.
  • Strong stance of empathy, acceptance, and growth mindset.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and engage respectfully with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to employ technology and digital learning tools.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and disaggregate data to serve as the basis for appropriate strategies.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of key stakeholders.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • TB clearance with the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.

Personal/Spiritual Leadership

  • Maintain a lifestyle that promotes health and endurance necessary for the position.
  • Maintain a personal decorum that models professionalism and modesty.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a positive school atmosphere.
  • Seek to model Christ in attitude, speech, and action.
  • Demonstrate continual growth in biblical knowledge and spiritual maturity.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

    • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing major donors, ensuring regular communication and engagement.
    • Provide exceptional donor stewardship, including personalized communications, donor recognition, and cultivation events.
    • Secures major gifts of $50,000 and above to meet annual fundraising goals.

Prospect Research and Identification

    • Conduct thorough research to identify potential major donors and institutional funders.
    • Analyze donor data and giving trends to identify opportunities for increased support and engagement.

Donor Solicitation and Proposal Development

    • Prepare compelling solicitation materials, including proposals, presentations, and donor correspondence.
    • Coordinate and facilitate donor meetings, presentations, and site visits to showcase the impact of donor support.

Collaboration and Coordination

    • Collaborate closely with the executive team to integrate major donor strategies with overall fundraising initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively with program staff to stay informed about organizational priorities and funding needs.

Donor Database Management

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's CRM database.
    • Track donor interactions, gifts, and pledges to ensure timely follow-up and acknowledgment.

Work Schedule:

Academic school year plus 25 days.

Position Status: Salaried, Exempt

Compensation: $$70,000 Annually plus 2% commission on donations of $100K paid quarterly

Physical Demands:

Standing/walking (40%), sitting (40%), lifting (5%), climbing (5%), bending (4%), squatting (6%). Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments in office setting. Floating desk assignment and/or shared office space may be required; moderate noise levels commensurate to an office environment.
