Job Summary: 

The ESE Staffing Specialist, under the direction of the Principal and ESE Compliance Coordinator facilitates the IEP process and protocols as well as supports the delivery of exceptional student programs within the school. This position also provides technical assistance to ensure compliance with all appropriate ESE laws for school-based teams. This is a 196-day contract (faculty schedule with 6 additional days during pre and post planning).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as LEA in all special education meetings (initial, annual review, re-evaluations, dismissal):
    • Reviewing referral(s) and evaluation data
    • Securing and disseminating additional information
    • Facilitating the meeting
    • Follow up IEP/IFSP committee recommendations/requests.
    • Provide all documentation as required by LEA.
  • Review documentation for all IEP/IFSP and ESE matrix for other meetings for monitoring compliance prior to submission to the district.
  • Serve as resource for questions related to IEP/IFSP goal writing/compliance, and Matrix completion and ensure updates on the Matrix change database.
  • Implement consortium ESE procedures that ensure appropriate and consistent compliance with state and federal ESE laws (including documentation of IEP/IFSP, Matrix, re-evaluation, and dismissal process).
  • Serve as coordinator and point person with school level personnel regarding changes related to ESE in policies and procedures of state and federal laws, and program services.
  • Monitor ESE data in student information system (Skyward, Focus) information/notify teachers/therapists of changes and expirations.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with ESE team members as related to special education needs of the student (SLP, psychologists, OT/PT, Behavior, and Health etc.)
  • Submit and track special education referrals to the consortium for evaluations, etc.
  • Assist in ESE audit preparation as needed.
  • Prepare required reports and maintain appropriate records.
  • Communicate with student’s parents/guardians in regard to legal rights and informed consent.
  • Provide ongoing support and professional learning for special education teams across the school and consortium, as needed.
  • Periodically audit compliance of student cumulative file. 
  • Assist with the provision of information to community groups and parents concerning ESE programs as requested.
  • Confer with other teachers concerning any educational needs of students identified as eligible for exceptional student education services.
  • Ensure that each student in the program has the necessary evaluation records in his/her permanent folder.
  • Complete reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies.
  • Refer those students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school personnel or community agencies.
  • Conduct and document monthly Student Study Team Meetings.
  • Review cost report vs. class list to ensure accuracy on a regular basis.
  • Participate in BOY/MOY/EOY meetings as requested and ensure follow-up of ESE related needs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as directed by his/her immediate supervisor.

Qualifications


Education and Training: 

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Valid Florida certification in K12 ESE

Minimum Experience:

  1. 3 years’ experience as an ESE teacher with extensive experience writing quality IEP.
  2. Prefer experience in a similar role.
  3. Strong organization and attention to details skills.
  4. Experience facilitating meetings with a variety of stakeholders.
  5. Strong knowledge of ESE rules and regulations
