Program Coordinator - Networks

Work schedule: full-time 40 HRS/WK

Wage: $18.00 - $23.00 /hr.

Days & hours of work: M - F, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Location: 8665 Gibbs Dr., Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92123

Classification: Non-exempt

General Description: Under the direction of the Managing Director of Programs, you are responsible for the effective coordination of the Networks Program (SD or NC.) Focusing on achieving the quality outcomes, compliance with regulatory standards, employee excellence and consumer / family / employer/ stakeholder satisfaction.

Supervisor: Managing Director of Programs

Supervises: Networks Personal Development Coaches

Essential duties:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate programs in the San Diego/Escondido Networks Program.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Labor and regional center standards.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with staff, families, care providers, regional center service coordinators and others to ensure consumer needs are met.
  • Oversee the Annual Review and Individual Service Plan process and ensure appropriate implementation of recommendations and goals
  • Respond and process referrals.
  • Participate in agency marketing activities including tours for prospective consumers and other community members, resource fairs and speaking engagements.
  • Maintain a high level of community visibility by participating in interagency committees and activities.
  • Provide coverage for staff during vacations or illnesses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effective and efficient coordination of San Diego/Escondido Networks:

  • Ensure programs are implemented as intended and promote increased independence and integration into work and community life by:
  • a. Overseeing the development of consumers long-term goals based on input received from person-centered plans, satisfaction surveys and assessments.
  • b. Ensuring short-term goals are consistent with consumers preferred future and focus on increasing levels of independence and integration.
  • c. Facilitating Annual Review meetings and process reports for these meetings, including the development of Individual Service Plans and monitoring the implementation of plans.
  • d. Ensuring that individual consumer schedules are dynamic and include consistent opportunities for consumers to achieve short-term goals in natural community environments.
  • Identify and develop work and community educational opportunities that promote opportunities for consumers to be accepted and valued members of society.
  • Recruit, hire, train and lead a team of staff dedicated to the mission of the organization.
  • a. Hold initial interview to screen applicants, conduct final interview and make recommendation to the Managing Director of Programs.
  • b. Complete annual performance evaluations.
  • c. Hold meetings with staff on an ongoing basis and discuss problems with the Managing Director of Programs as needed.
  • d. Provide in-services to new staff in chart structure, behavior management, staff evaluation and paperwork procedures.
  • e. Plan and develop training opportunities for the staff that enable them to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • f. Provide coverage for staff during vacation and illness.
  • Maintain and report program evaluation data, consumer payroll and attendance.
  • Work with the Managing Director of Programs to evaluate adult programs.
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned.

Compliance with regulatory standards:

  • Ensure agency compliance with federal and state requirements for payment of subminimum wages to consumers.
  • Assist with agency compliance to regional standards, particularly in relation to quality, individualized services and supports, employment and community services, health and safety, and human resources.
  • Promote an ensure safety as the highest priority for staff working with consumers in the community and assist in ensuring a safe working environment for staff, consumers and the general public at the San Diego Center/Escondido Facility.

Responsiveness to consumers, families and community stakeholders:

  • Serve as a point of contact for referrals and program inquiries.
  • Conduct intakes and tours with consumers, families and the general public.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and staff to review program activities, consumer needs and service gaps.
  • Maintain contact with regional center service coordinators to discuss consumer needs, report any incidents or advocate for consumer/family supports.
  • Initiate and/or maintain community contact with families, employers, schools, other service providers and the general public to determine level of satisfaction, need for program changes or development of new services to meet community need.
  • Participate in public relations activities to promote San Diego/Escondido programs and services.
  • Develop marketing plan and materials for public relations activities.
  • Participate in collaborative community committees as assigned with a focus on creating a high visibility for UCP programs in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a minimum of ten (10) years in the field of developmental disabilities. All relevant training and experience will be considered.
  • Experience supervising staff with demonstrated success in motivating high staff performance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to person centered thinking and planning.
  • Experience in staff supervision and training.
  • FA/CPR certified or the ability to be FA/CPR certified.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principle and philosophy of inclusion.
  • Knowledge of behavior management principles.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to accurately document consumer information, (e.g. assessments, goals, etc.) within an established format.
  • Ability to direct consumers and staff.
  • Ability to make a positive presentation to consumers, consumer’s families, care providers and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate with persons who are nonverbal or who use augmentative communication devices.

Reasoning & Mental Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to respond to interpersonal conflicts and problems.
  • Ability to create and implement new training methodology.
  • Ability to resolve problems, recall details and be able to concentrate.
  • Must be able to think clearly and respond appropriately to emergencies, complete work within deadlines, and work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Ability & Stress Level:

  • Ability to tolerate a moderate to high stress level.
  • Ability to lift and transfer consumers or materials from 50-100 lbs., push and/or pull up to 250 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor facility and various community sites.
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to meet with employers, attend meetings and travel throughout the county.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license, proof of auto liability insurance, and be able to transport consumers when necessary.
  • Exposure to blood born pathogens could occur during restrooming, feeding, or when administering first aid to consumers. Hepatitis B vaccine is offered to all employees at no cost to employee.

**TB Test, health screening and a LiveScan background clearance are required for employment with United Cerebral Palsy Association of SD County.**
