evidence-based programs, each staffed by a dedicated team of caring professionals, Second Chance is regarded
throughout the greater San Diego area as a leader in helping formerly incarcerated and justice involved citizens
successfully reintegrate into society.

Second Chance helps hundreds of justice-involved youth and adults receive the services they need to find a better path
through job readiness training, case management, counseling, and transitional housing programs. We are dedicated to
our mission of “disrupting the cycles of incarceration and poverty to help people find their way to self-sufficiency.”

Program Summary
The STRIVE Future LEAP program focuses on addressing educational and employment barriers faced by

justice impacted young adults. The program helps young adults between the ages of 18-24 develop life

skills and in demand occupational skills needed to obtain livable wage jobs and/or enter into education

opportunities.

The Program Coordinator, Youth Programs reports to the Sr. Director of Programs The Program Coordinator is
responsible for being the first impression to Second Chance by greeting, screening and directing guests, answering
incoming calls to the Agency and routing calls to respective parties. This role will also provide a wide range of office
administration support. This position is responsible for a wide range of activities to include but are not limited to:

Contract Compliance, Reporting, and Data Collection Duties:

  • Responsible for establishing, tracking, and reporting measurable goals for the programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring all contract outcomes and goals are met or exceeded in a timely manner.
  • Ensures accurate data is recorded for program compliance reports and complies data for review.
  • Analyzes contract compliance reports and coordinates operational improvements with the Sr. Programs
Director.
  • Responsible for overseeing regular case reviews and audits of client files and program outcome data to

ensure program compliance.

  • Responsible for ensuring required client records are properly collected, scanned, and filed in a secure

location.

  • Responsible for submission of service and financial records needed for payment to the finance

department and the Sr. Programs Director.

  • Responsible for providing regular outcomes updates to the Sr. Director of Programs to report to STRIVE

International and other Stakeholders, including but not limited to status of staff and services; status of

relationships with collaborative partners; ongoing needs for effective delivery of services; and overall

operation of the programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Programmatic Duties:

  • Professionally represents Second Chance in the program with collaborative partners including overseeing

subcontracts. This includes maintaining working relationships and information sharing with collaborative

partners and subcontractors.

  • Develops process for the ongoing review and approval of client's case management plans in coordination

with the case Compassionate with the ability to be sensitive to cultural differences or behavior in a

multicultural community and various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful, professional, and effective

manner.

  • Solution focused with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish languages preferred.
  • Ability to be resourceful and flexible in an ever-changing environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to be resourceful and flexible in an ever-changing environment.
  • Must be computer literate (proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Data Management Systems).
  • Familiar with the program population.

Qualifications

  • Experience in providing counseling, social or education services for high-risk youth or

young adults preferred.

  • Minimum one (1) year of management experience preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year professional experience with re-entry of justice involved people, with
knowledge of juvenile justice and/or criminal justice systems, programs, and issues.
  • Ability to use Motivational Interviewing (Ml) practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Positive Youth Development.
  • Knowledge and Skills to provide counseling and group facilitating in a manner that is

responsive and sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences and related needs of staff

and clients preferred.

  • Ability to work with a degree of autonomy and exercise responsible judgment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate and to work effectively with a
diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with other service providers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships internally
and externally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish languages desired.
  • Not-for-profit experience preferred.
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or other closely

related field or equivalent experience.

  • This position is non-exempt (hourly), full-time, 40 hours/week. The rate of pay is $26 - $28 per
hour
