Unispace is Hiring an Associate, Architectural Project Manager Near Boston, MA

Our studio is seeking an extraordinary Associate Designer - Architectural Project Manager who loves working in a fast-paced environment who is not afraid of hard work and can help drive our function and further raise our Design profile! You will develop and effectively communicate high quality concept designs for pitches for projects, tenders and potential clients and then lead the way by coordinating project consultants on the design outputs.

What you will do

  • Transform, refresh and create amazing workplaces for diverse clients
  • Partner with our Business Development Principal and our Construction team, to educate and charm potential clients on the unique value Unispace’s methodology offers
  • Responsible for establishing, maintaining and adherence to project budget and schedule
  • Create and broaden Client relations built on trust and exception service
  • Manage client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape consultants and other consultants who may be engaged
  •  Lead project teams in the management of all design work for a project from conceptual design through final construction documents
  • Communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation
  • Analyzes and develops approaches to the creation and modification of architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, specifications, etc. ensuring the incorporation of design intent
  • Corrects and updates, making minor adaptations and modifications, to complete working design documents
  • Performs product research; assists project designers with material selection and system research
  • Coordinates with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations and adjusting scope of services
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff members to produce exceptional designs and grow within the industry
  • Oversee the production of detailed bid/construction issues packages in accordance with local codes and industry norms.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants and our construction team
  • Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction
  • Develop and enhance our standards
  • Pitch in where ever needed as a valuable member of a cross-functional team
  • Contribute to our culture of equality, creativity and innovation. Think outside the box
  • Quickly interpret Client needs/scope and establish the best solution/design process

The Experience, Skills and Knowledge You Bring

  • 10-12 years of professional experience with focus on interiors
  • Exceptional ability to manage small teams and execute elevated design projects
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Experience in corporate interiors in diverse client types such as law, entertainment, finance, marketing, etc.
  • Experience in Lab/Life Science Design
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
  • Advanced knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
  • Ability to prepare technical drawings, detailing, material specification and construction administration, great knowledge of Interiors details, millwork drawings and extensive knowledge of FF&E
  • Strong working knowledge of regional building codes
  • Demonstrated skills to produce and meet budgets, cost plans, programs and project timelines
  • Adept at Design Proposal writing and able to work with our Sales team to finalize contracts

Your Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent degree is preferred
  • AIA / NCIDQ licensure and/or LEED certification are assets
