GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Case Manager for Project Access will assist the Associate Dean of Students (or designee) as a case manager in maintaining a caseload of students and assessing their needs to ensure appropriate planning and provision of services. As part of a multidisciplinary team, support students experiencing food, housing, or other basic human needs insecurities. You will be responsible for enhancing the quality of student care by assisting in designing and implementing follow-up protocols, keeping accurate reports utilizing College software, and maintaining and deepening community partnerships to provide comprehensive, cohesive services, information, and programs, which in turn will support retention and completion with a focus on equity.

A successful candidate will employ a multi-disciplinary approach to meet with students, assess their needs, make appropriate referrals, follow up with students, and track success. The work produced by this position requires strong knowledge and experience in areas of student/client advocacy, food and housing insecurity, healthcare, and community support resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the implementation of a comprehensive program that assists students
  • in addressing critical needs.
  • Assist students with applications to external resources, such as emergency funds, fuel assistance, transportation assistance, SNAP, MassHealth, etc.
  • Support the implementation of wraparound services for students, including but not limited to connecting eligible low-income students to safety net programs through a coalition of community-based organizations, government agencies, foundations, and non-profit organizations.
  • Maintain a caseload of students seeking resources and provide routine follow-up.
  • Maintain confidential student information and records.
  • Ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally competent care
  • Support Project Access staff in the planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing comprehensive and cohesive campus-wide programs and services designed to identify and meet the needs of under-resourced students.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to remain current.
  • Conduct regular assessments of services/programs, including student needs assessment, program efficiency and effectiveness, and student outcomes. Assessment will be formal and informal, including surveys, intake/out-take forms, qualitative and quantitative data, feedback sessions, and benchmarking.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize motivational interviewing and other positive/engaging strategies to enhance students' level of engagement.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with college partners and community service agencies to provide wraparound/holistic student support.
  • Meet with various academic and student services to develop co-sponsorships, alliances, and partnerships to maintain interoffice affability.
  • Work collegially and collaboratively within a community that values and celebrates diversity.
  • Facilitate formal and informal events to raise awareness about the prevalence and considerations of food and housing insecurity and destigmatize conversations about these topics. This may include classroom visits, professional development sessions, tabling events, workshops, and presentations.
  • Participates in College committees as needed.
  • Provide monthly and annual reports as needed related to grants, research, unit activities, and other unit programs and initiatives.

This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. The Associate Dean of Students may assign other duties as required to meet the needs and foster the College's mission. Some evening and weekend work may be required.


Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Sociology, Human Services, or a closely related field;
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in human services or social work, which may include case management work in an academic setting, which may consist of college transition programs, counselor or advising, in an educational environment
  • The ability to exercise discretion in determining actual or probable consequences and referencing such evaluation to identify and select alternatives.
  • The ability to inform and guide others by applying case management principles in addressing specific situations.
  • Solid and practical interpersonal skills, including engaging in active listening, relating to others, and demonstrating sensitivity and respect for all individuals.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidential and sensitive information, exercising the highest degree of discretion
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and computer software skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Experience working with BIPOC students and the LGBTQ community with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, equity, and inclusivity
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, or a closely related field
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Proficient in social work/case management best practices that have proven successful for people from lower socioeconomic status, underserved, and diverse populations.

Location: Roxbury campus. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework by the College's telework policy (at the manager's discretion).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm
