Summer Camp Nurse
Camp JCC located at the Simon Family JCC, Virginia Beach, Virginia provides children with a rich and unique day camp experience. A dynamic day program allows every child to explore their own interests and try new activities within a safe camp atmosphere.

Job Summary

The Camp Nurse ensures the safety of campers through prevention, education and responds to any medical situation appropriately, following standard protocols. The ideal candidate has experience working with children ages 5 .

Orientation Dates

Preparation - as required before the start of camp -TBD

Sunday, June 9th, Monday, June 10th, Tuesday, June 11th, Wednesday, June 12th, Thursday, June 13th. Times TBD. Final training and preparation followed by CAMPER –COUNSELOR MEET & GREET.

Responsibilities

• Develop a budget for supplies and work with Camp Director to purchase necessary supplies
• Develop a plan of action for summer camp safety and provide staff with basic first aid knowledge
• Review all health forms of campers and provide individual camp directors with the necessary information to ensure the safety of campers.
• Administer medications to campers and treat campers and staff as needed for illness and emergencies
• Complete all required documentation to ensure compliance with procedures by recording incidents and medical care
• Communicate effectively with parents the disposition of any medical incidents or care of their child(ren) during camp
• Work cohesively with all camp staff to ensure a safe environment for all.
• Attend staff meetings as required, and contribute to the overall success of the camp.
• Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• RN or LPN Certification
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and staff
• Ability to work within a team
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Able to provide staff with the knowledge to prevent and/or handle emergency situations

Salary commensurate with experience.
