UIC is Hiring a Mac Systems Administrator Near Chicago, IL
UIC is seeking a MAC Systems Administrator to join our College of Applied Health Sciences IT Team. This role is a core member of the IT team for the College of Applied Health Sciences. Under the general direction of the IT Director, the position manages the Mac computers and mobile devices for the college. This position is responsible for the system administration, software packaging and deployment, operating system patching, and server management. This position will interact directly with both Help Desk staff and end users within the College and must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills, in addition to the required technical abilities listed further below. This position requires the ability to think strategically while maintaining the existing infrastructure. Depending upon the deadline schedules, emergencies, etc. work hours in excess of the regular day may be required Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform server administration related to maintenance of existing core systems using JAMF. Develop Mac (OSX) OS images and deploys images to Apple workstations. Build and distribute applications to machines using application management tools. Integrate a wide variety of computing platforms/devices (Windows, OS X and iOS, Android) within an enterprise that uses Windows management tools (Active Directory, group policy management, etc.).
Classroom Technology Management and Maintenance – Ensures that department classroom technology needs are discussed and met. Coordinates with audio visual vendor(s) and the Technology Solutions group to identify key hardware or infrastructure changes, repairs, or service changes for the classroom and conference room areas.
Coordinate with Technology Solutions and other third-party vendors on any Apple computing needs for the AHS faculty and staff
Technical writing: Develop policies, procedures and documentation as required; Develop user training materials and tutorials for IT staff and end-users.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
