University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

UBC is currently hiring a full-time therapist for the Sunday – Thursday day shift. The program therapist performs social services functions to include completing bio-psychosocials and other assessments, group facilitation of an evidence-based curriculum, educating and engaging families and support persons, crisis intervention and individual therapy for patients whose length of stay is longer than a week. We work in an interdisciplinary hospital setting with a psychiatrist, 24-hour nursing and mental health techs. The program therapist also works closely with UBC’s court liaison and discharge coordinator to ensure patients’ needs are met. This position will be primarily assigned to the Harmony unit where we serve patients with severe and persistent mental illness who are admitted under the Baker Act.

Education/Training:

• Master’s Degree from accredited school in Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
• Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital or psychiatric counseling setting with adults and/or adolescents and their families.
• CPR certification
• Preferred licensure as LCSW, LMHC, or CAP, LMFT

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies (group and individual treatment skills)
• Working knowledge of developmental stages
• Some minimal knowledge of community resources
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to intervene in a variety of situations.
