UCP Heartland is looking for a Director of Health Services

What will you be doing in this senior leadership role?
  • Direct supervision of the nursing staff to promote the health and wellness of agency clients in compliance with all applicable authorities.
  • Provide oversight of the medication management program within the Residential, Respite, Community Services, Child Development Center, Autism Clinics and Camps as needed to promote safety in the medication use process.
  • Review physician orders, medication administration records, physician visit reports, on a routine basis to ensure appropriateness of care. • Ensure documentation is present and complete per current standards of practice and funding source requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to current agency policies and procedures. • Develop and implement additional policies and procedures as needed to promote health and wellness of the clients.
  • Assist in the investigation of medication errors and other medical assists as needed.
  • Review medical records of potential clients for appropriateness for agency services. • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services.
  • Provide clinical expertise in the management of medical and psychiatric emergencies and incidents.
  • Provide clinical training and education as needed to nurses and others who provide client medical care.
  • Monitor overall quality of care, develop plans for improvement and prepare reports of performance.
  • Manage and coordinate team’s schedules and payroll.
  • Perform skill evaluation to develop and promote clinical capabilities of nursing team members.
  • Provide supervisory support to clinical therapist, not including BCBA’s, which includes, but is not limited to payroll and other administrative functions.
  • Be certified by the State of Missouri to teach Level 1 Medication Administration programs and teach class as needed.
  • Use the EHR (Electronic Health Records) and EMAR (Electronic Medication Administration Record) systems to complete/review all applicable documentation.
Minimum Employment Standards for This Position:
  • BS in Nursing from an accredited college, university, or hospital.
  • Meets and maintains required licensure and registration with the state of Missouri.
  • One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to transfer adults who may weigh more than 150lbs using mechanical supports.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of basic computer software.
  • Available for flexibility in work schedule
  • Readily available reliable transportation, including valid driver's license.
We Would Prefer You Have:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN
  • Three or more years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
