The Position

The Director, Donor Services is responsible for the operational execution of Donor Services’ departmental operations. The Director implements and reviews processes and operating structure to maximize tissue donation and meet tissue processor, donor family and other key stakeholder expectations. In addition, this position analyzes operations, including overall referral management, overseeing efficiency and/or process improvements. The Director also establishes standards and guidelines to nurture, and promote ongoing relationship management with processors, donor families, referring institutions and other stakeholders, while also supporting the growth and development of a 24/7 workforce.

What You’ll Do

Strategy & Planning

  • Contributes to the organization’s strategic plan by defining and implementing departmental goals and objectives to support organizational growth
  • Establishes and fosters positive professional relationships for collaboration through strong relationship management with processor customers, partners, families and stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in the strategic thinking process, Leadership meetings, Capability & Capacity meetings.
  • Participates in support of the business model utilizing the Baldrige framework
  • Upholds the expectations of an inclusive work environment and leads the donor services’ employee engagement strategy
  • Actively participates in personal development activities, DEI-Belonging activities, and leadership training sessions.

Talent Management

  • Manages the selection, performance, and development of the 24/7 departmental staff to retain a motivated, high performing, and professional team.
  • Oversees the recruiting and selection of applicants for job vacancies considering the requirements of the job and skills/abilities of applicants.
  • Utilizes development and coaching strategies to achieve enhanced job performance, drive personal and departmental goals, and support growth and development objectives for donor services staff.

Operational Oversight

  • Provides operational oversight for the Donor Services Manager to maximize tissue donation and oversee referral management.
  • Develops performance objectives/goals for day-to-day activities consistent with AATB and EBAA standards as well as FDA regulations related to authorization and donor suitability for eye and tissue donors.
  • Analyzes performance metrics (authorization rates, customer service metrics, process adherence, standard work, etc.) and develops plans to optimize outcomes. Ensures data driven decision making provides support for the department.
  • Assesses monthly results and reviews process with staff to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develops and administers annual department budget to attain business goals and ensure operational stability.
  • Working with the Funeral Home Liaison, develops and implements a strategy to improve working relationships with funeral home stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or healthcare related field or equivalent work experience is required, Master’s degree a plus
  • 3 years of direct people management experience required
  • Prior leadership experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue organization strongly preferred
  • Skilled at relationship management with a variety of internal and external contacts
  • Knowledge of key customer service principles.
  • Familiar with LEAN principles/Performance Excellence
