UCLA is Hiring a Program Coordinator, Students with Dependents Program Near Los Angeles, CA
Reporting to the Students with Dependents Program Director, the Students with Dependents Program Coordinator will support in planning, developing, implementing and assessing programs designed to support the success and well-being of students who are students with dependents/parenting students at UCLA. The Students with Dependents Program Coordinator will support with office management, event planning, coordination of program initiatives and identifying and accessing campus and community resources available to these students that will help them address the specific barriers they experience to succeeding in a collegiate environment. This position is based in the Students with Dependents Program (SwD) within the Bruin Resource Center (BRC), a Student Affairs Office at UCLA whose mission is to support students' development, well-being and academic success and to foster an inclusive and socially just campus community. In the service of this mission, the BRC provides specialized services and programs to the following student populations: current and former foster youth, students in recovery, students with dependents, students impacted by homelessness, students who are formerly incarcerated and system impacted, and undocumented students. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position 10 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred 1. Knowledge of current issues and community services that have an impact on undocumented students Required 2. Excellent oral and written communication skills to present information clearly and effectively to individuals, small and large groups. Required 3. Demonstrated skill in listening, counseling, and referring students to individuals, offices, or agencies, to resolve problems. Required 4. Skills using word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, electronic mail, and other software in a windows environment. Required 5. Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities and conflicting deadlines. Required 6. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse populations including students, faculty, administrators, family members, and the general community, from a variety of cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Required 7. Demonstrated understanding of diversity that includes but is not limited to family make-up, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, socioeconomic level, and religion. Required 8. Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends. Required 9. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Required 10. Experience with university programs and services focused on supporting college students who have dependents (e.g., UCLA Students with Dependents Program).
