UCLA is Hiring an Assistant Director, CARE Near Los Angeles, CA

Reporting to the CARE Director, the Assistant Director for CARE is recognized organization-wide expert in the overall field of sexual harassment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence and stalking. The Assistant Director for CARE manages organizational programs and provides direct supervision to CARE professional staff, ensuring professional development, accountability, and stewardship of departmental resources in alignment with departmental goals and objectives. Having significant impact and influence on organizational policy and program development, the Assistant Director acts as an advisor to the CARE Director in developing departmental goals and objectives. The Assistant Director supports the Director in providing staff and intern supervision, program management, and overseeing day-to-day operations of the CARE office. The Assistant Director analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies, and exercises judgment to determine appropriate action. The Assistant Director builds and maintains strategic partnerships with on and off campus programs and resources in service to the vision and mission of the CARE Program.
The Assistant Director works on SVSH cases which are highly complex and require decisions on matters that may be unique, complicated, with limited or no precedent, or may require quick thinking. The Assistant Director is able to analyze situations with variable factors and formulate strategies that best serves the victim's interests in immediate and long-term resolution of their situation.
The Assistant Director acts as a subject matter expert and participates in developing and delivering trainings for professionals who may interact with survivors of sexual violence and sexual harassment and advises on outreach and awareness campaigns aimed at preventing SVSH on campus. In addition to advising on campus and local community efforts, the Assistant Director also participates in state and national efforts addressing sexual violence, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.

Required/Preferred
Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or related field. Is a qualified psychotherapist under the California evidence code, or has a master's degree in counseling or has one year of counseling experience with six months rape crisis experience.

Experience evaluating, streamlining, and standardizing processes.
Required
Knowledge of and skills to interpret UCLA policies and procedures, especially pertaining to purchasing, room reservations, travel, and entertainment.
Required
Experience working in a multicultural environment and skills to communicate, interact, and work with diverse constituencies.
Required
Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and resources related to sexual harassment and sexual violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking.
Required
Must maintain confidentiality within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations, including Evidence Code 1035.2 and 1037.2. Accordingly, advocates are not reporters under SVSG Policy, Title IX, or the Jeanne Clery Security Act.
Required
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the personal, social, and intellectual developmental needs, problems and characteristics of university students, staff and faculty members.
Required
Must be able to provide services, advocacy and crisis intervention during non-business hours as appropriate.
Required
Knowledge of issues faced by student veterans, former foster youth, parenting students, undocumented students, historically underrepresented students, transfer students, and members of the LGBTQIA community.
Preferred
California Certification for Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor Training and California Certification for Domestic Violence Advocates.
Required
Knowledge of the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights / Title IX, Violence Against Women Act, Clery Act, CA Victim's Rights Laws, and The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, and other relevant legislation and reports.
