UAB Health System is Hiring a MEDICAL ASSISTANT - HUNTSVILLE, AL Near Huntsville, AL

Position Summary:

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol. To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol.

To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol. May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.

This position supports a very busy outpatient family medicine clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific, non-invasive and minimally invasive (e.g. vaccinations) clinical procedures to prepare patient for treatment.
  • Assists physician or other healthcare team member in administering direct and indirect treatment.
  • Performs clerical tasks as required including, but not limited to scheduling, maintaining patient charts, typing, completing prior authorizations and insurance filing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00

LOCATED IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA.

High School diploma or GED required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hard Skills: Previous Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient medical clinic with a wide age range of patients, experience with EMR
  • Soft Skills: team player, ability to multitask, attention to detail, work well under pressure
