Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Specialized Experience
(for positions above GS-5): Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
  • Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
  • Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
  • Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.
At the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal service.
Specialized experience should include expertise in one or multiple CG utilized MHS Genesis Solutions (RevCycle, PowerChart, Dentrix, PathNet, PharmNet, RadNet, HealtheIntent, etc.) as well as expertise in Health System business processes, policies and regulations. The position will require these functional experts to participate in development of new capabilities in order to ease impacts of MHS Genesis workflows on CG business processes. In addition position will require assistance with ongoing training to promote end user adoption of changes to the system. The position will require participation in the issue resolution process for end users as solution, workflow and change management experts, and collaboration with IT professionals to coordinate changes and improvements to MHS Genesis suite.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
