Turnagain Social Club is Hiring a Recreation Specialist (Weekends) Near Anchorage, AK

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Specialist to join our team. As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging recreational activities for seniors in in the community. This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults and contribute to their overall well-being.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement recreational programs that cater to the physical, social, and emotional needs of seniors
- Plan and organize various activities such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, exercise classes, and outings
- Assess the interests and abilities of residents to create personalized activity plans
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a well-rounded recreational program
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or have special needs
- Maintain accurate records of participation and progress
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members

Experience:
- Previous experience in aging issues counseling, social work, or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of event planning principles and techniques
- Strong communication skills to interact with Members, families, and staff members
- Familiarity with dementia care and understanding of the unique needs of individuals with memory loss
- Experience working in nursing homes or assisted living facilities is a plus
- Passion for senior care and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults
