Role Overview and Responsibilities

Role Purpose:

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Assures product and process quality by designing testing method
  • Provide leadership, development opportunities and managerial oversight to the manufacturing engineering and Test engineering team
  • Drive Business process improvement through innovative and best in class manufacturing processes
  • Ensure capacity and capability of manufacturing processes, resource and equipment match that which is required from BU SIOP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish capability for the repeatable supply of goods and services continuously reducing cost and driving quality
  • Accountable to develop and meet departmental budgets.
  • Maintain perspective on best manufacturing processes and practices externally (e.g., through benchmarks, university research, engineering bodies)
  • As an IPT member, drive optimal “Design for X”
  • Facilitate across multiple functions the introduction of new products and industrialisation
  • Create efficient production process and work instructions to build, test and and ship custom configured products
  • Review drawings, schematics and manuals to establish manufacturing process/routing
  • Support Quality team on investigation and corrective action for product quality issues
  • Drive the agreed improvements through a series of implementation plans
  • Completes time studies to determine production capacity for each product
  • Makes recommendations and suggestions to improve production capacity to meet customer demands
  • Create production documentation from customer files and standard manufacturing practices
  • Implement engineering changes into production documentation as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Depth of experience in driving process improvement
  • Solid understanding of current and cutting edge manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Solid understanding of DFMA tools
  • Able to influence and solicit buy in from wide range of BU stakeholders
  • Able to train, mentor, and coach individuals on DFMA tool use and process improvement objectives
