Location:

We have offices in New York, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, London, and Gurgaon. We welcome you to work in any of our offices, but you also have the opportunity to work from home.

About the role:

Reporting to the Chief Content Officer/Video & Production, the Development Producer/Streaming TV oversees the ideation, concepting and format pacing, as well as talent scouting and casting, of new half-hour streaming formats for FailArmy, The Pet Collective, At Home with Family Handyman and other TMB channels.

About you:

You are passionate about developing entertaining half-hour television shows using UGC content as a base. Phenomenal at concepting and idea generation, you recognize that the best ideas can come from anywhere and love bringing creative thinkers together to spark fresh, unexpected show formats. A resourceful watcher, sharer and creator of content, you love scanning media platforms to spot and engage emerging talent and have a communications style that gets creators excited to be part of our programming. Highly collaborative and inclusive, you work across teams effectively to create and pitch a broad scope of genres and related talent in the areas of comedy, pets, DIY, home and garden, lifestyle and more. Excited by change and challenges, you are hungry to learn and adapt with the company and grow with our team.

Your day-to-day: (aka Responsibilities)

  • Work with the Chief Content Officer/Video & Production and the Streaming Executive Producers on long-term creative programming strategy to achieve business unit KPIs (audience, sales, distribution)
  • Leverage your deep understanding of the content in TMB’s clip library (RIFF) to create fresh, new half-hour streaming TV show concepts that fit our priority brands and have the potential to engage audiences for multiple seasons; ensure library contains enough clips to sustain at least three seasons of a new format
  • Coordinate quarterly brainstorming sessions with teams across the company to ideate new show formats
  • Work with the VP/Digital Studio and Social leads to identify formats made for social platforms that could be expanded into half-hour shows
  • Maintain relationships with TMB’s current roster of talent to build deeper relationships and identify opportunities for future casting
  • Manage the casting process to identify a variety of talent, including influencers, DIYers, actors and more
  • Scour social media and other platforms to identify emerging talent for TMB’s shows and our Creator program
  • Work with the Streaming, Social, Ad Sales and Production teams to ensure recommended new formats align with channel strategies and are supported by performance data and revenue opportunities while also meeting TMB’s budget parameters
  • Schedule and participate in the quarterly greenlight meetings; lead pitch deck creation
  • Support new business in ideating show formats for partner networks (e.g., A&E) and lead pitch deck creation
  • Provide the Social team with updates on streaming formats that could be cutdown for Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
  • Provide creative notes on the first three episodes of all new formats to ensure show vision is being executed against what was greenlit
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Chief Content Officer/Video & Production

You have: (aka Qualifications)

  • A bachelor’s degree in filmmaking, journalism, English or communications
  • 5 years in creative development or current programming role for digital/streaming/television
  • Proven track record ideating new formats and identifying talent
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the television, social, digital, and streaming TV landscape
  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Passionate about creating new programming genres and formats for streaming TV
  • Strong desire to collaborate across teams and the confidence to work with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Personality profile to fit into a high-growth, entrepreneurial culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile growth environment where you will get your hands into the details
