True North Wilderness Program is seeking motivated candidates for post-graduate therapy degrees to join our clinical team. True North is a licensed residential treatment center and wilderness therapy program located in the beautiful Green Mountains of Central Vermont, an hour South of Burlington, Vermont. True North is a small, independently owned program, providing personalized therapeutic interventions and transition support for 14-17 year old adolescents and 18-25 year old young adults with an emphasis on assessment and family participation. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a nationally recognized therapeutic wilderness program, be part of a dynamic, supportive team and live and work in a fantastic community.

Clinical Interns shadow one or more of the Primary Therapists on the team. The therapists are responsible for supervising a caseload of up to 7 students and providing therapy in the wilderness setting. This position requires driving and hiking to meet with students in the outdoors at least twice per week as well as facilitating regular communication and support for families and referring professionals. Interns have opportunities to shadow and participate in all of these responsibilities.

Internships may be for one or more semester and have a potential of leading to full-time employment. Applicants should be in pursuit of a degree in a mental health field (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, Psy.D., Ph.D.), preferably in their last semester(s). Experience in a NATSAP program or as a wilderness guide is a plus. This internship provides tremendous learning in the realms of individual, family, and group therapy, case management, residential and wilderness treatment modalities, teamwork and collaboration. The internship is unpaid, but it would be possible to work as a guide during the internship to have the potential for concurrent paid employment which would also provide extensive opportunity for learning about wilderness therapy and preparing for a clinical career.
