Tree Island Industries is Hiring a Remote Sales Representative – Industrial/Commercial

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Tree Island is one of North America’s largest producers of steel wire and fabricated steel wire products. Their line of wire products includes high and low carbon, galvanized, and bright steel wires. These products are sold in either spooled or straight & cut sections to a variety of customers for further downstream fabrication, or for end-use applications, such as baling, strapping and fencing. The company also offers many finished wire-based products, including a broad array of fasteners (packaged, collated and bulk nails), stucco reinforcing products, concrete reinforcing mesh, fencing and other fabricated wire products. Their products are made from wire rod sourced from a variety of producers around the world.

A significant portion of Tree Island’s products are used in different areas of the construction market: residential construction, renovation and heavy construction, which experience different demand cycles. Products also support industrial manufacturers and commercial fabricators, as well as the agricultural and forestry industries. Products are sold through multiple sales channels, including retailers, distributors, contractors, as well as original equipment manufacturers.

JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Rep Industrial position is an intricate part of a well established dynamic sales team. The Sales Rep would manage industrial product groups, such as industrial OEM wire (galvanized and bright), low and high carbon wire, construction mesh and concrete reinforcement wire. They will execute sales plans to exceed business targets and customer expectations. The individual acts as a strong interface between the customer and the business. The successful candidate will execute the sales activities of the Company by performing the following duties.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business.
  • Perform market research to develop prospective customers and for information to determine their potential. Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customer’s value to the organization.
  • Identify and qualify new growth opportunities within the region, including opportunities in new products, new accounts, increased market share, new segments, channels, and geography.
  • Execute detailed sales plans and product, customer, and channel strategies that meet or exceed Company goals for volume, margin, product mix, and market share.
  • Makes telephone calls, in-person visits, and presentations to existing and prospective customers to build a pipeline of opportunities to deliver profitability and revenue targets.
  • As part of an overall sales plan, establish a plan to make contact with dormant or declining accounts with the intent of establishing an improving position respectfully for Tree Island.
  • Manage assigned customer price lists.
  • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the return on time investment for the territory/segment.
  • Represent the Company at trade association meetings and shows to promote positive Company image, promote products, and increase brand awareness of Tree Island.
  • Resolve customer complaints as required.
  • Keeps current on products, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and internal experts.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities, products, and market share of the competition. Constantly collect and test understanding of market pricing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in a similar role or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Proven sales & customer service record.
  • Experience setting up and managing local and regional accounts.
  • Hands-on individual who takes ownership and brings solid solutions to the table.
  • Ability to build strong, high-level customer relationships.
  • Team-oriented pace setter and a self-starter.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills coupled with proven negotiation, prospecting, and customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office.
  • This position requires regular travel within the Southwestern USA, including some overnight stays.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish, is a plus but not required.
  • Ideal candidate will be based in Southern California.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Annual Compensation Range: $95,000 - $115,000

Employment Type: Full Time (Salary-Exempt)
