Job Description Job Description The RN works to promote good health and prevent illness. The RN educates the client, his/her and other staff personnel assigned to the client about various medical conditions; treats patients and helps in their rehabilitation; and provides advice and emotional support to the patient in a long-term care facility The RN is a general-duty nurse who focuses on the overall care of clients. They administer medications under the supervision of the clients physician/practitioner and keep records of symptoms and progress. General-duty nurses also supervise other assigned nursing staff: licensed practical nurses (LPNs), CNA and GNA. RN must be dedicated to making a difference in the client's and family's lives and may be required to assist the DON as needed and upon request of the DON and/or Administrator. RN may be required to take on the responsibilities (temporary or permanent) of the Case Administrator (CM). RN responsibilities include:Perform nursing care duties as required in the clients care plan and per NPA standards.Be fully familiar with the needs of the assigned client. Develop a good rapport with the client and the clients family.Maintain current updated client records. Implement, evaluate and document the nursing care of clients per Agency and Departmental policies and per standards of professional nursing practice. Skills in wound management Skills in EN and PN nutrition management Responsible for all duties as listed in the skills A & D Obtain the patients history and medical information Provides physical care and carries out therapeutic and medical regimen Complete assessment on reports and record vital signs and measurements Collect specimens Prepare patients for continuing care after treatment Training and retraining of patients and patients family This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/ her direction, CNA, GNA, CMA, CMT, Unlicensed Aides and LPN. Qualifications Requirements for the Registered Nurse: Must be a professional nurse with a current RN unrestricted license in Maryland. Current CPR certificate; Minimum of 2 years experience in home health nursing. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently to supervise subordinate staff that may be assigned and demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
