Travis Central Appraisal District is Hiring a Help Desk Team Lead Near Austin, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction and supervision of the IT Manager, the Help Desk Team Lead assumes a pivotal role, providing advanced technical support to staff and external parties (vendors, consultants, etc.), guiding a talented team of technicians, and proactively ensuring smooth IT operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Be the go-to expert for your team, providing mentorship, training, and coaching to develop their skills and confidence.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, networks, and phone systems.
  • Provide elevated support for Microsoft Windows systems, administer user accounts, and oversee backup and inventory management.
  • Conduct software and hardware installations and ensure regular maintenance and upgrades for optimal system performance.
  • Execute efficient and seamless relocation of hardware equipment.
  • Offer support for the organization's phone systems.
  • Facilitate job submissions and report printing, manage data imports and exports, and process entity data requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Sound understanding of network fundamentals.
  • Streamline workflows, optimize procedures, and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Foster a collaborative and open environment where your team feels heard and valued. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactively research and implement new technologies to keep our IT infrastructure at the cutting edge.
  • Work on-site Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with occasional overtime, including nights or weekends as needed.
  • All duties are performed independently and require self-motivation and a professional attitude in the work environment.

REQUIREMENTS/ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience in IT support, with leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in public-facing customer service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • CompTIA A certification and a strong understanding of network management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Windows, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to recognize confidential information and protect it.
  • Ability to assess information, ask questions, make decisions, manage time effectively, and execute assignments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, bending, kneeling, reaching and twisting the upper body. Must use hands for data entry much of the workday. Must be able to hear and speak both in person and by phone. Must be able to see and read fine print and lift 30 pounds. This position is subject to stress caused by a changing public environment, organizational diversity, heavy workload, and mandatory deadlines. Moderate stress levels are consistent with occasional significant stress.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

An indoor and outdoor setting. Frequent exposure to computer monitors and interfacing with the public. This job is not subject to significant occupational or environmental hazards.
