Position Summary:
Performs preventative and reactive maintenance. Conducts repairs of both a mechanical and electrical nature. The incumbent will inspect, diagnose, test, adjust, maintain, repair, and build equipment to produce finished goods. The incumbent will also investigate abnormal wear and other functional issues to determine the root cause(s) of equipment failure. Successful performance of this role will result in total cost reductions, reduced unplanned downtime, and increases in machine capacity.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and diagnose root causes of unexpected failures and abnormal wear of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Repair, replace, or rebuild mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components as necessary.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Use manuals and drawings to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues surrounding electrical supply and wiring.
  • Understand, diagnose, and troubleshoot automated processes involving PLCs, relays, limit switches, etc.
  • Understand the function and operation of HMIs and their relationship to machine components.
  • Understand equipment operation and set-up.
  • Work with other technicians to grow knowledge and understanding of equipment.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of machine tuning to improve product quality.
  • Have a clear understanding of power transmission component functions (ex: taper keys, bushings, belts, chains, sprockets, bearings, motors, etc.) and their proper assembly/disassembly.
  • Understand the function of and diagnose issues with vacuum devices for paper transfer.
  • Understand and follow procedures for adjustments, replacement, setting of blades, anvils on production equipment.
  • Adhere to all company work rules.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and practices.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Use or wear all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ability to operate lift trucks, scissor lifts, or boom lifts.
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight.
  • Ability to work while at a height of up to 40 feet above the ground.
  • Must keep the shop area and tools neat and well organized.
 Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED, 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificate or degree in Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Automation, Industrial/Automotive Technology, or similar, preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills are preferred.
  • Ability to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching items together.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, especially where one must frequently give and receive detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Active work; standing most of the time. Exerts up to 55 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Must be able to judge distances and detect moving and stationary objects when transporting items to adhere with safety requirements.
  • Must be able to constantly recognize product types and safety/warning material (some small).
  • Constantly required to identify color coded safety & warning areas/notices (most colored yellow and red and some in small print) to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Constantly required to position the body to conduct maintenance activities.
  • Frequently receives or exchanges information with management or other personnel regarding work requests or issues.
  • Must be able to identify and react to potential hazards.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge gained from experience to carry out detailed and involved instruction and to resolve problems involving both known and unknown variables.
  • Constantly works in an environment that includes seasonal heat & humidity; exposure to safety areas with moving equipment; dust/dirt; noise; vibrations from equipment; lighting differences; and occasional fumes.
This position is for 2nd shift, defined as Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm.
