WORK AND TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS:
This is a full-time position and is approved to work in the Emerald Isle, North Carolina office. Work from office policy is in effect for three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday).
ABOUT THE POSITION AND OUR TEAM:
This Human Resources Generalist role will focus on the organization’s compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations, identify areas of risk, and write policies. Additionally, this role is responsible for creating and maintaining initiatives that foster a positive and engaging work environment, promoting employee satisfaction, retention, and productivity. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures to current and new employees and managers.
  • Conduct audits and internal reviews to ensure adherence to policies, identify areas for improvement, and propose corrective actions.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to engage internal and external legal counsel, as necessary, to address issues and mitigate potential risks, and ensure practices are legally compliant.
  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies, initiatives, and programs to enhance job satisfaction and create a positive work culture.
  • Complete periodic check-ins with employees and identify patterns or themes in feedback received.
  • Develop quarterly employee surveys and analyze data received to develop or enhance employee engagement practices.
  • Review feedback received on Glassdoor, LinkedIn, etc., and work with the marketing team to craft responses.
  • Complete exit interviews for employees ending employment with the organization; identify trends in feedback received.
  • Manage worker’s compensation plan and process for reporting employee events.
  • Responsible for the completion of OSHA 300, EEO-1, and other annual reports.
  • Ensure departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are complete and reviewed annually.
  • Work with Talent Acquisition Specialist to develop initiatives aimed at diversity and inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and three or more years of human resources experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
