TransitAmerica Services is Hiring a Project Manager Near San Jose, CA

TransitAmerica is currently seeking a Project Manager in San Jose, CA to join our team.

The Project Manager will oversee and be responsible for a variety of projects over the entirety of their lifecycle in support of the Caltrain system.

The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Represents the company in project meetings.
  • Assists with preparation of written reports and/or updates (internal and external) for management, client, and project team, to ensure a clear understanding of project status.
  • Administers financial tracking systems to monitor project costs and estimates.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Coordinates with department managers to establish work plans and staffing for each phase of the project – including support services for flagging, signals, and isolations required.
  • Ensures project activities comply with government regulations (Federal / State / Local).
  • Verifies estimates based on detailed review of proposal specifications.
  • Attends and/or leads meetings with internal and external customers, project staff and management to communicate information related to each function’s needs concerning project requirements.
  • Supervises project activities to ensure the project is executed in accordance with designs, budgets and schedules; takes appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations.
  • Assists with resolution of any problems that may arise during project execution.
  • Monitors the efficient use of materials and equipment and the contractual performance of the project; confers with project staff to ensure that assigned duties and responsibility are performed per agreed upon expectations.
  • Manages financial aspects of contracts.
  • Supervises and coordinates onsite activities and provides day-to-day direction of onsite staff.
  • Ensures that quality, productivity and safety standards are being met.
  • Provides technical assistance and makes recommendations.
  • Monitors safety programs.
  • Ability to create baseline schedules with fully loaded resources and provide schedule updates to accurately track projects.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of project management, rail construction or maintenance management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic project accounting, project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.), material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality.
  • Exhibits strong management skills and has the ability to lead and motivate employees.
  • Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – including MS Project or other project management software.
  • Project Management Professional Certification – Preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
