TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Associate Technical Writer to join our Systems Deployment Team in Houston, Texas.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to produce detailed written documentation for TransCore's hardware and software solution working with our diverse and dynamic team.
Job Summary: The Associate Technical Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, editing, and verifying high quality technical documents and/or developing procedural documentation for our System Deployment Center in Houston, Texas. You will work directly with management, technical, and other product development/deployment staff to develop internal and customer facing documentation that meets customer requirements and user needs. This includes performing administrative, formatting, editing, and project management activities from project assignment through document completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Researches, writes or rewrites and verifies high quality technical documents.
• Displays excellent grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation skills.
• Tracks and reports progress of projects from inception through production.
• Works with technical and management staff in developing and executing target projects.
• Participates in team meetings and collaborates with all subject-matter experts.
• Contributes to the establishment of improved documentation processes and deliverables.
• Researches and analyzes system requirements and designs information products to meet those needs.
• Requires an overall knowledge of the product(s) he/she is responsible for documenting, and an understanding of how they relate to the entire product solution.

Education : Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in English, Communications, Engineering, or equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience.
Desired Skills and Experience:

• Engineering, or equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience.
• Related experience in technical writing, editing, or proposal related experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing and communicate across various user groups.
• Some writing experience within a software environment is preferred.
• Capacity to work both independently and in a team.
• Skill in researching, organizing, and presenting technical information.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, to meet deadlines, and effectively collaborate with peers within the organization.
• Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat, and source control software.
• Experience in instructional design and creative writing is a plus.
• Sharing a writing portfolio may be requested at interview.
• A short-written assignment demonstrating skills documenting a Use Case may be requested during the interview.
