Role Description:

The role of this position is to operate a delivery truck in a safe manner while following
all state and federal regulations as they apply to proper and legal operations of such
vehicles. Drivers also serve as the “face of Townsend Building Supply” on many
occasions. As such, your role is to deliver product to specific job locations as required by
our customers while maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude with
“best in class” customer service.

Dimensions:

This position is housed at the Townsend facility in Dothan, AL and reports to the
yard supervisor/operations manager. It requires close cooperation and interaction with
other store employees, with all yard personnel, and with customers. Estimated travel
for this position is 85%.

This position will require 8 hours per day Monday thru Friday for a total of 40 hours per
week. When it becomes necessary, the warehouse manager may at his discretion require
additional hours if business conditions warrant.

Drivers are solely responsible for large and expensive trucks and equipment. As such,
we expect the utmost in safety and security measures at all times. Drivers also serve as a
major “point of contact” with major pro-channel customers. In this regard, this position
requires the utmost in professional behavior and “best in class” customer service.

Nature of the Position:

This position is responsible for:
1. Safe operation of a motor vehicle in conjunction with state and federal
regulations
2. Pre-trip vehicle inspection and follow up on “action items” related to the
inspection report.
3. Participating in the loading of all goods in the yard in preparation for
customer delivery.
4. Positive interaction with employees & customers
5. Delivery and pickup at customer job sites.
6. Forklift operation.
7. Heavy lifting – manual labor required
8. Completion and maintenance of proper shipping documents.
9. Representing Townsend Building Supply in a professional manner at all
times.
10. Being alert to things that need to be done and, without being asked, take
initiative to see that they get done.

Qualifications

Specific Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. At least 2 years driver experience
3. Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they relate to the proper and
safe operation of motor vehicles.
4. Ability and willingness to present a professional image and appearance to the
customer at all times.
5. Strong communication skills
6. Must be able to lift sheet goods on a daily basis and other heavy products on a
daily basis.
7. Ability to operate forklifts for loading & unloading purposes.
8. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
9. Ability to work independently without close supervision.
10. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
