Town Of Cary is Hiring a PARK ATTENDANT II- OUTDOOR PROGRAMS Near Cary, NC

Cary's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources department is seeking organized, personable, and enthusiastic individuals at least 18 years of age to join our outdoor programs team as Park Attendant IIs. In this role, you will engage with visitors, help enforce facility rules, and assist with the daily operations of the Bond Park Boathouse and/or Cary Action Sports. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills, an interest in working outdoors in a park setting, and a can-do attitude. Positions will be primarily based out of either Bond Park Boat House or Cary Action Sports but may include hours at either location depending on need and availability. Primary work with Bond Park Boathouse will take place on weekends in April through November with additional weekday shifts available in June, July & August. Primary work with Cary Action Sports will take place on evenings and weekends throughout the year. This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. This position requires a flexible schedule which may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedules and specific tasks may vary by facility.Opens/closes and secures facilities daily;
Unlocks, cleans and prepares equipment for rental operations;
Performs light maintenance and general cleaning of facility and equipment;
Provides exceptional customer service and assists patrons with rental equipment;
Performs daily safety inspections of facility and equipment;
Monitors patron safety and provides routine information on rules, regulations, policies and safe practices;
May cover cashier duties;
Supports park operations including assisting with programs and events, handling recycling and trash removal, stocking informational brochures, preparing shelters, and ensuring park security;
Follows up with supervisor with oral and written reports;
Enforces Cary policies and park rules and regulations;
Performs administrative tasks as needed;
Performs routine clerical and public contact work involving processing customer inquiries and dispensing accurate information concerning park and departmental programs and services;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.General knowledge of park, facility or outdoor center operations; general knowledge of cash collection procedures and retail sales; some knowledge of boating and water safety; skill in the operation of common office equipment; skill in interpersonal communication; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to meet the public effectively and provide strong customer service; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to the established deadline; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written; ability to engage with the public in a firm but tactful manner; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the facility, division and department; ability to maintain filing systems; ability to work independently on assigned projects and programs; ability to take initiative when necessary; ability to respond calmly to an emergency situation.Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. 
Prefers some general customer service and public contact experience.CPR/First Aid certification preferred. If applicant does not possess certification, then it must be obtained upon employment (courses are provided by Cary).Physical RequirementsRequires the ability to move about the park on rough terrain and lift moderately heavy items such as trash bags, marine batteries, canoes and related equipment and supplies. Conditions of EmploymentRequires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history. 
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
